She was my son Jeremiah's Physical Therapist here in St Louis, I guess back in the 1980's, Jeremiah has Cerebral Palsy, Melody taught him to crawl, sit, stand up, how to put on his coat. I cannot express my deepest sympathy for her family, she was a wonderful woman who helped my son become the person he is today, The world was better because of her.

When I think of my college days, I always think of Melody; and when I think of Melody, I can't help but smile. As a professional firefighter, I remember how thrilled she was to tell me she was a volunteer firefighter. I will never forget her handwritten cards at Christmas, and the good times and the laughter. I will miss you Meldoy.

Melody was a very creative girl who could take the characters of our teachers, and create songs about them, make the bad times good times, and laugh at just about anything. She will always be remembered by her classmates as the one who had kept all the memories and photos, saddle shoes and tunics, and stories. That had begun in high school with her yearbook production years. She was a dedicated athlete and a true friend who spent hours handwriting letters to each of us at Christmas time each year...long after email came on the scene.
When we were young I can recount numerous times when we were in cahoots over devising some scheme or other at CSG and I will always remember her as one of my closest pals. She was an incredible person, and I am a much better person for having known her and the light she could shine.

Melody's memory will live on for all of us who were lucky to have called her friend, family, teacher... Thanks to all of you who have expressed your thoughts and memories. Melody truly was a special person who touched so many lives from her childhood days in Ohio to her adult life in Washington. I was lucky to have known Melody at CSG, where we played together on the field hockey team. Melody was just one of those girls who was nice to everyone and fun to be with, even if you weren't in the same "group." So, I was thrilled to learn, some 20 years later, that Melody lived in the greater Portland area. Maybe it's the CSG connection that bonds so many of us for life, or maybe it's the same for anyone who reconnects with childhood friends, but getting to know Melody as an adult was easy and enriched my life. I enjoyed the special times when we got our young children together for Zoolights or pony rides at the Grotto. Wish I could have helped more during her battles with cancer, but please know that she was much loved and admired, and she will be missed.

Thanks, Melody, for all the laughs and happy memories! Only regret that we didn't live closer when we were young working professionals or when our kids were growing up. That doesn't diminish any of the clear memories I have of the kooky and wonderful high school times together. She was probably the best-loved member of our high school class!

Melody was my very best friend growing up in our early years in the Berwick neighborhood. She taught me to climb her chainlink fence and we spent many hours playing "horses" with our collections in each other's basements. We certainly lost track of each other after she left public school to attend CSG and I moved "to the country" to get a REAL horse. I have thought about her often over the years and wondered how she was. I am deeply saddened to hear of her untimely passing but happy to hear that she had a wonderful life and family in a beautiful area of the country. I know she will be greatly missed and my thoughts are with everyone in the family.

Melody was a fabulous addition to the Evergreen School district's motor team and we were so sad when she needed to take medical leave, and then found out her diagnosis. We will so miss her. She was loved by many students and staff and will be missed by us all. Thank you for sharing her with us. Know that many of us here are thinking about you hoping you know how much we cared about Melody. She touched so many lives for good.

Greg, So sorry to hear about Melody. Marla and I always appreciated the help both of you provided to Boy Scout Troop 475. You were always there, helping with special needs kids. Marla and I will be out of town in October, so will not make the memorial. Let us know if there is anything we can do. This is right up there in our hearts, like the untimley loss of scout Jory Lohnes. John Polos, Venture Crew 492 advisor & former scoutmaster Troop 475; Marla Polos, Committee Member Troop 475
