All my best to the O'Grady family in this difficult time. I will always remember -- and do my best to emulate -- Mike's generosity and enthusiasm. He was never happier than when he was going out of his way to help a friend.

My deepest love goes out to all the O'Grady's.I met Michael way back in 1975-'76 while on Spring Break, down in Key West, after many fun nights at the Green Parrot, Duval St, sunsets on the pier, the tomato man, camping on Bow Channel,& then sharing a wonderful, long ride back to OSU in Stan Reeves' white van.I was lucky enough to get to know this group of friends(we pretended to be a rock band at one stop!!) Then daily (almost) breakfast & studying in Pomeranian Hall, helping Michael get that darn language requirement from OSU done, so he could go to Law School. He was a gentleman with the greatest sense of humor & I LOVED sparring with him intellectually. My Dad was a Professor at Columbia at the time & that seemed to give me some credibility.Michael was such a grand buddy & helped me in any way he could. That NEVER changed over the years. Always there for his family & friends & then our children & he even touched the next generation, helping w/a legal situation that helped our grandson -because that's the character this gentle giant possessed.I still have a birthday note, in true "Bear" fashion- 5/3/82 on memo paper that has at the top "From the desk of Michael P.O'Grady& he stapled 5 pages together. I will cherish it forever. He spoke of his family in this note-that being a driving force in deciding whether or not or when to move back to Columbus. Then I vividly recall the night we met Alison..She brought out the sparkle in his eyes- this was it!!Then came weddings, babies..life. I admired his undeniable strength & fortitude- this was a man who LOVED life & lived his life with all the right priorities, integrity & loyalty. His family was always #1..Stories out at the farm, while playing Ping Pong, about bunk beds & the constant hullabaloo of being the oldest of 12 siblings!Flash forward to Michael & Alison's wedding, our times in Lakewood. What happy memories you both are part of, that I will always treasure. I like to imagine,Michael's in heaven , having philosophical debates with my Dad,Perry who simply adored & admired him & playing cards with Greg, Mountain, Casey..the list goes on.I will keep you in my heart & prayers, dear friend. I know the most important thing to you was to be sure Alison & the kids were ok. Be at peace & pain free, you sweet, kind, SMART man. I'm so grateful to have called you my friend. God Bless & keep you.My deepest condolences to this wonderful family who showed me what family really means, when times get tough..God Bless you all. With all my love, Joanna

Mike was a wonderful caring man who will be missed.. He and I served on the North Central Mental Health Services Board of Trustees. He 's been on the board since 1007 and served as its Chairman for 2 years. He cared deeply for the less fortunate and worked for their well being. I will miss Mike. Dear Alison, Tina and all the O'Gradys,
Buster & I are so sorry for your loss. Mike was truly a force to be dealt with...and how lucky were we who were friends and family! I had so much fun going back & forth w/him about issues in our Child Support Agency days, only to have him say, "Okay, now switch with me and argue the other way!" It was great practice for dealing with Legislative Services in Columbus years later! He was a true friend...and will be so missed. We are heartbroken that we're unable to attend the Memorial, but you will all be in our thoughts and prayers.
Safe home Michael O'Grady, safe home.

To the family, wife, children, brothers and sisters and nieces nephews... We would like to send our condolences to you all for the untimely and much too soon passing of Michael O'Grady. I was blessed to have been in his presence twice, both times at a dinner with his brothers and sisters. His sister Mary, Terry Letner is my sister in law so I was invited to be with this huge funny group of people. I watched as Michael teased, laughed, bear hugged his family. He decided to turn his teasing on me and we had a blast. He was gracious and funny to the servers and sincerely appreciated his time with his family. I hope and pray you all take time to remember him, remember his personality, remember his laugh, remember his hugs, remember his dreams. He was an amazing man he did amazing things for our community and he left us much too soon. Again our condolences to you all.
