Michael Wolfe Obituary

Wolfe Michael Lambert Wolfe, 63, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at home from complications with pulmonary disease. Michael was born February 24, 1953 to the late Robert H. Wolfe, former chairman and publisher of The Dispatch Printing Company and Ruth Lambert Wolfe. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by half-brother William Culver Wolfe and granddaughter Paige Darby. Michael is survived by his wife and best friend, Beverly Jean Wolfe; children, Michael C. (Melissa) Darby, Angela (Richard) Wolf, Christopher Wolfe and Jennifer Wolfe; grandchildren, Johnathon, Noah and Roman Wolf, Phoebe and Alice Darby, Jase and Adelyn Wolfe; many loving extended family members; and amazing special friends. Michael is a graduate of Columbus Academy and attended Ohio University, Athens. His career in the family business began at the bottom and he worked his way up the ranks. During his time at The Dispatch he began in press maintenance, he worked as an electrician there, spent time in the photography department and finally the production department. Mike was a member of many organizations including the Free Masonry and Shrine Bodies especially Aladdin Temple Shrine Hillbilly Clan # 8 and most important the Brutal Brothers of the Aladdin Temple Shrine. He served as "The Boss" of The Animals, an organization that was very special to him. Michael was unique from an early age often sneaking into the family's electronic train room learning how to work complex train systems with his father. In his teenage years he developed an interest in auto sports which lead to his enjoyment of many NASCAR races during which he and his wife made many friends while tailgating in their motor home. Mike had a knack for storytelling and could hold a conversation with anyone about anything. The only thing larger than his memory was his heart - he would do anything to make those around him smile. He and Bev shared a love of boating and fishing spending many enjoyable trips to Lake Erie in Port Clinton, Lake of the Woods, Canada and various other destinations. He thoroughly enjoyed traveling and meeting people of any walk of life - rich or poor, American, Canadian or any ethnicity Mike would enjoy a drink and a story. One of his greatest pleasures in life was being "Poppy" to his grandchildren. Per Mike's wishes a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. His family will communicate the details directly to friends and family. Cremation services entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL. It makes me sad to think I out lived Michael. As a teenager I got to know him as a caretaker, aka babysitter, and he was a terrific kid. I remember him being easy going, respectful of his parents and their friends and fun to be with.

Sounds like he grew into the kind of young man his mother and father would have been extremely proud of.
