I just learned today of Mr Addis' passing on. What a remarkable man who touched so many lives. I HATED, HATED math in high school. At NHS, my most dreaded class, but...Mr. Addis made it not so bad. He was fun and always had a lesson to share...it may not have always been math related. :-) What a good man.

Patty, my deepest sympathy to you and your family. May you find peace in your mourning and comfort in the many lives your Dad touched while here on earth with us! Many blessings!

I met this wonderful, golden hearted, gentleman four days after my own father passed. He almost immediately "adopted" me as one of his own. I will be eternally greatful for all of the things he has done for me in a fatherly role for the past ten years. I will never forget and he will always be my "Poppy". I love you Oaks, you're in my heart forever.

My father taught with Oakley at Linmoor many years ago, and your father tutored me several times in 7th grade math, also many years ago. Sorry about your loss.

I want to send my sympathies and those of the DONLEY family. I found Oakley when I was starting a search for family history and met his parents. I would attend the funeral but had surgery on my left foot and I am unable to leave the house because of a bad infection and treatment with an IV in my arm. Oakley's grandmother and my grandfather were siblings - and he attended a Donley reunion after we met. I also attended the funerals of his parents. I realized what a wonderful teacher he had been because he talked about it so much. So I send our love and sympathies to his children on behalf of the Donley family. Kay

Oakley (Tomato Man) we will miss you. When the season is right I will be driving home from work and won't be able to tell my mom (Betty) that the stand is out and you are sitting under the tree out of the hot afternoon sun. You giving my mom flowers when we would stop by to get tomatoes. You were such a good neighbor for the 25 years my mom has been your neighbor. And I was honored to take photos at your wedding. My mom and myself send our deepest sympathy to your family....

I had Mr Addis for Math at Brookhaven he was a great teacher. I like that he could have you laugh and learn all at the same time. I had meet him prior to him being my teacher. My cousin lived on Powell road and in the summer we would ride bikes and he was always out and we would stop to get a drink of water as she lived on the corner of Powell and Old State Road which at that time was farms and country with a couple of miles in between.

February 21, 2013

Oh I am so sorry to hear this. I bought tomatoes from him every summer. He always gave me extras or free flowers too. Such a sweet man. I know he had daughters, and although I never met you all, ladies, I'm so very sorry for your loss. Your Dad was truly one of a kind and will be sorely missed.
