Patricia Doolan Obituary

Doolan Patricia Anne Doolan (nee Saylor), 84, passed into Eternal Life in Columbus, Ohio on July 6, 2016. She was born in Spring Valley, Ohio on December 26, 1931 to Perry A. and Edna (Aldredge) Saylor. She is survived by daughter, Karen L. (Paul) Jacobs; son, Kevin R. Millar; daughter-in-law Michelle (Elam) Millar; brother, Gerald L. Saylor (Ruth Hopkins); sister-in-law, Martha Saylor; granddaughters, Stephanie (Shawn) Naylor, Valerie (Jamie) Miller and Emily and Kelsey Millar; grandson, Michael D. (Bobbi) Millar-Matson; great grandchildren, Elodie Ann Miller, Dani and Damien Matson, and Bailey, Brice and Berkleigh Naylor. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, beautiful steadfast friends, and her dear cat Smokey. She was preceded in death by her parents Perry Saylor, Edna Saylor Kuch and stepfather Clarence Kuch, brother Elden P. Saylor, husbands Ronald D. Millar and John "Jack" Doolan, and her son Craig D. Millar. Pat graduated from Centerville High School and The University of Dayton. She taught elementary school in the Franklin and Kettering, Ohio school systems. She formerly resided in Centerville and Kettering, Ohio, and later in Sarasota, Florida. She moved to Columbus, Ohio in 2004 to be near her daughter and immersed herself in the Columbus life joining Scioto Ridge United Methodist Church and the Upper Arlington and Dublin Senior Centers where she made many lovely new friends. In the last two years of her life she lived happily and fully at Claremont Retirement Village. Pat will be remembered for her love of family and friends, her faith, hosting great parties, a flair for fashion, a passion to travel, gardening and her many oil paintings, but most of all for her kind and grateful heart. This quote from Danny Kaye captures her spirit, "Life is a great big canvas and you should throw all the paint you can on it." Her family is most grateful for the caring, compassionate staff at Claremont Retirement Village and from Kindred Hospice services. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her name to Kindred At Home, Suite 100, 540 Office Center Pl., Gahanna, Ohio 43230. Cremation services are arranged by KAUBER-FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, Pataskala, Ohio. The family will celebrate the gift of her beautiful life privately. To honor her life call a friend, write a thank you note, "Savor every bite!", pay a complement, toss a pretty scarf over your shoulder, paint your canvas and plant many flowers.

Pat was a gracious lovely lady, friendlu and kind to all. I interviewed her for the Claremont newsletter and helped when she share her paintings and travels with us. She will be missed but she won't be in pain any longer. It was a joy to know her and my prayers and thoughts are with you her family.
