Paul L. Russell, age 88, of Sunbury dies Friday, March 16, 2018 at Kobacker House in Columbus. He was born on November 2, 1929 in Athens, Ohio the son of Reverend Novel L. And Alice Victoria (Cornell) Russell. He was a graduate of Athens High wand worked for Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #189 until his retirement. Paul also filled many roles within the local law enforcement community as well. He was a member of the Sunbury Police for 14 years, was a Special Deputy with the Delaware County Sheriff's Department for 4 years, and a juvenile officer under the late Judge Barrett. He was a member of the Paramuthia Lodge #25 in Athens and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He also held memberships in the Buckeye State Sheriff's Association and the NRA. Paul was a lover of animals, especially his dogs. He will be missed by his children Randy (Arlinda) Russell of Mount Vernon, Tammy (Keith) Jones, Carrie Decker, Jane Russell, Pam (Frank) Beaver all of Sunbury, Hank (Lynn) Blair of Mount Gilead, Tasha Spearman of South Carolina, Bob (Linda) Russell of Canal Winchester; 19 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; brothers Harry (Adrian) of Missouri, Phillip (Linda) of West Virginia, and Jimmy (Marilyn) of Chauncey, Ohio; and his beloved Schnauzer, Jethro. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 24 years Marjorie J. (Howard) and his son Rick Blair. Friends may call on the family on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 6-8 PM at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 North State Route 61, Sunbury, Ohio 43074. Funeral services will be held there on Thursday at 11 AM. Burial to Follow at Sunbury Memorial Park.
