Philip Fletcher Obituary

Fletcher Philip E. Fletcher, son of Esther (Miller) and George Fletcher, brother of William Fletcher and Connie (Vance), father of Michael and Matthew, grandfather of Nicholas and Magdalene, fan of all things Ohio State, nemesis to all things groundhog, died on June 11, 2013 at the age of 66. A graduate of Groveport Madison High School and The Ohio State University, Phil grew from a corn shucker at Smith's Farm Market and Fisher-Fazio's into the computer programmer known as "Fast Eddie" by his coworkers on East Broad Street. Phil believed in a strong education, especially for his boys. An avid supporter of Mike and Matt's time at St. Charles, Phil would later adorn his car windows with JCU and BU decals, and he constantly looked to grow his collection of t-shirts celebrating the Bluestreaks and the Braves. Phil loved his crosswords, his cigars and his White Castle coffee. He made sure the boys were safely upstairs when a stranger came to the door, but he kept that same door open for anyone who found themselves walking the shoulder on I-270. He relied on attic fans and wide-band radios much longer than he enjoyed the pleasures of air conditioning and DirectTV. He loved his dad's euchre parties, his mom's iced tea, and the wonderful women his sons would make their wives. Phil found great joy and purpose in giving to others. In his final act, Phil gave his body to the School of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University. A private gathering in celebration of Phil's life will be held on Saturday, June 15. If you would like to honor Phil, please make a donation, in his memory, to the school of your choice - as long as it's not that school up north. Donations may also be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, where Phil spent his final days.

Phillip is My Brother and I did not spend the time with
Him that I
wanted to for many years!! He was a great Brother. He was
also
a great Father and Raised His Boys with much love!! It's
a shame that He didn't to enjoy His Golden Years. He was
dedicated to His Profession for 40+ years. He deserved more
than what He got!! He

Just heard of your father's passing. We graduated together from Groveport-Madison '64. He was such a nice guy and in reading his obituary and postings, he apparently continued his sense of humor and character. We will miss him at our 50th reunion next year. I will keep Phil and his family in my daily prayers. Susie Hubbard Hill

Connie and Bill, I read with great sadness Phil's obituary. The memories of Sundays at Grandma and Grandpa Miller's farm came flooding back and the summertime visits to your place in Groveport as well. I found a picture of most of the Miller grandchildren recently and remembered how sad I was when I found out that you couldn't marry your cousin. He was a super kid!
Much love to you all,
Valerie Campbell Roth

Phillip was more like family than neighbor, he cared and talked more about his great sons and the Reds than anything else. Very glad he was a part of my life. Rest well Phil
