Phyllis was my Sunday School teacher, when I was a kid, at St. John UCC in Aurora, IL. She would have us kids to her place to work on special projects we never seemed to finish in Sunday School. Maybe the cookies and hot cocoa she gave us at her place was the reason. We always had such a great time, and never wanted to leave. My fondest memories of Sunday School, were those with Phyllis. She was still teaching when I had children of my own and I was so happy that they got to spend time with her also. Phyllis always had a smile on her face and a kind word to everyone she met. I will miss her greatly and cherish the times we spent together at Church. Love you, Miss Phyllis

We are so sorry to hear of Phyllis passing. I remember all the good times we had on Clark St. when Phyllis and Grandma lived downstairs from us. She was a warm, loving lady and always had a smile and a positive outlook on life.

I was Phyllis's caregiver. Phyllis and I became very good friends. I loved listening to her tell me stories from long ago. We shared many happy times and shed a few tears together her and I. She love her family dearly. She always called me Momma. One day i ask her why she called me mommma she said because you take care of me and do things for me just like my momma did. I would always tell her I loved her and she would ask me who loves you momma and I always would say you, she would smile, wink her eye and said and don't you forget it. I was curling her hair one day and she says to me: You know I never got married or had any children but If i would have I would have wanted you to be my daughter. It brought tears to my eyes, that was the nicest compliment anyone has ever given me. I loved her so very much there was nothing i wouldn't have done for her. For the family my love, thoughts and prayer are with you all. I feel so honored to have been a part of her life and to call her my friend. For my Dear Friend Phyllis: I will miss our talks and that little grin of yours. You will be missed and thought of each and every day. You are so loved. Rest now for we will be together again...I love you always and you be good up there. Momma Melody
