Richard Renico Obituary

RENICO Richard C. "Dick" Renico, 75, of Grove City, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2006 at his home. He was an extraordinary man, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who lived a loving and compassionate life. Dick was born November 7, 1930 in Columbus, the son of the late Calvin and Elma (Grande) Renico. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Leonard Renico. Dick retired from Columbia Gas after 42 years of dedicated management service. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Germany with the Second Armor Division during the Korean War Era. A loving and gentle man, Dick loved animals; especially dogs. Always giving of his time, wisdom and talents, he enjoyed being a Little League baseball Coach. Dick loved sports; the Reds, the Bengals and the OSU Buckeyes were his favorite to watch and he enjoyed fishing. Dick was a talented sketch artist, an avid card player, he loved flower gardening, and was a John Wayne and MASH fan. He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Grove City Masonic Lodge. Dick's true passion was his family. He enjoyed vacations with his family. Whether it was a trek across America or worldwide travel, he always had a marvelous time, made new friends, and made everlasting memories. His presence, love and dry sense of humor will remain in all of us who knew and loved him. Dick is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Linda; devoted children, Renee (Robert) Hoffer, Phillip (Chris) Renico and Megan Renico; precious grandchildren, Joshua and Katie Hoffer, Ryan and Jason Renico; step-granddaughters, Brianne Stillion and Brittany Hoffer; step-great-granddaughter, Adele Stillion; sister, Gloria (Dr. Parlan) Edwards; sister-in-law, Ruth Renico; several loving nieces, nephews and cousins; many beloved neighbors and dear friends across the country. Calling hours 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the SCHOEDINGER NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, where his funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2006 with Pastor Karen Presler officiating. Burial will follow at Grove City Cemetery. If you wish, please make contributions in Dick's memory to HomeReach Hospice, 3595 Olentangy River Rd., Columbus, OH 43214. His family extends a heart felt thanks to Kobacker House and the staff of HomeReach Hospice, especially Dr. Grainger and Dr. Kennedy, for the loving care given to Dick throughout his illness.
