GAGE Robert Michael Gage, of Sanford, NC, died on Sunday, April 6, 2008, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC, at age 77. Born in Columbus, Ohio, on April 20, 1930, he was preceded in death by his parents William C. Gage and Mildred D. Gage, one brother William D. Gage and one brother-in-law Gerry Turner. Robert who preferred to be called Bob served in the US Army occupation forces stationed in Germany. Later he earned a BS in Business at Ohio State University then an MBA at Michigan State University. Bob remained a Buckeye fan all of his life. He worked in the electronics industry many years in the US and in Asia. His most recent position was President and CEO of Eldorado Components, Inc. and President of K & G International, Inc. Bob attended First Baptist Church of Sanford and the Roland Palmer Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Ohio State University Alumni Club, Mustang Club of America, VFW Post 9957 Flying Tiger, Taipei, Taiwan, and a former coach with Lee County Recreation Dept. He enjoyed collecting and restoring antique Mustangs. Robert is survived by his wife, Brooks Haislip Gage; and sons, Benjamin Haislip Gage of the home, Robert M. Gage, Jr. of Columbus, OH; two sisters, Juliana Tuner of Norwalk CT and Patricia Walters of Columbus, OH.; one sister-in-law, Eileen Gage of Lake Angelus, MI; two grandchildren, Robert M. Gage, III and Sarah Gage, both of Columbus, OH; two great-grandchildren and ten nephews and nieces. Funeral Services were held Thursday, April 10, 2008, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Sanford. Dr. Jeffrey Clark, Pastor Brian Caldwell and Pastor June E. Haislip, officiated. The family would like to thank the NC Baptist Hospital and Drs. Bayard Powell, Leslie Ellis and Susan Meline along with the dedicated staff and nurses for their compassion, kindness, and excellent care. His family would also like to thank the capable, caring and skilled care he received at Liberty Commons of Lee County in Sanford, NC.
