Robert S. Girardi, age 75, passed away on March 9, 2021 at home in Urbana, Ohio, with his wife and family by his side. He was born in Beech Creek, PA, to Helen (nee Tarachko) and Abel Girardi. The eldest of three, he leaves behind sisters, Nancy Girardi and Joyce (Larry) Phelps of Wilmington, NC. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Jeanie Girardi, and her children, Brad Winner and Susan Conley. Preceding him in death was Jeanie's mother, Edith Kohn. He is also survived by his children, Kevin (Amy) Girardi and Kristen (Alan) Anderson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Cecilia (nee Lorz), mother of his children and remained a part of the Lorz family throughout his lifetime. Bob graduated from Bishop Watterson High School and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1964-1967. He studied at The Ohio State University and went on to have a long career in computer programming with the United States Postal Service, from which he retired in 2000. During his lifetime he enjoyed traveling and finding ways to bring about laughter to anyone that met him. After retiring, he enjoyed flying remote controlled airplanes, fishing, and sport shooting. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to Barely Used Pets which is a non-profit dog and cat rescue in Urbana, Ohio. They provide an alternative for the unwanted, stray and relinquished animals of Champaign County as well as surrounding counties. Donations can be mailed to 844 Jackson Hill Rd., Urbana, Ohio 43078. A Celebration of Life gathering is currently being planned for later this year.
