Mr. Hess was certainly the Mayor of Ellington Road! Oh and July 4th! Every year! I loved both Mr. and Mrs. Hess, and their daughters were amazing babysitters to me. I learned how to make roses from ribbons from their daughters.
Mr. Hess had a basketball hoop in their driveway. He taught me how to shoot, though I never ended up in sports. But he taught me it was okay to be a girl shooting hoops.
My love to the entire family, and thank you for sharing your parents with mine.

I had the honor and the privilege of living next door Bob and Rachel and the family. I bought the house next door and it needed a lot of Updating. Although I was already pretty handy, Bob would casually observe my projects and usually had a tool and technique that would make my job easier. And he was always right. I was 24 when we bought the house in 1979 and my daughter Jessica was born in 1980 and my son Bill in 1983. Bob and Rachel always had a block party on July 4 and everybody in the neighborhood enjoyed many a good time at these holiday block parties. We moved to a new house in 1988 and I realized I would have to buy my own tools since I didn't live next door to Bob anymore. Bobs kid's will get a kick from the photos I have attached. This is my current garage. I send my deepest sympathy along As do my children and am honoring his life today by recalling many pleasant memories of those wonderful 9 years on Ellington Road.
