I was lucky enough to be one of Dr. O'Toole's last students during my surgical pathology fellowship at OSU last year. His committment to the department and love of pathology and teaching was evident. I am so grateful that he made the decision to come back to help in spite of his illness. I know he struggled last year but I could tell it meant a lot to him to spend some time doing what he loved. My deepest condolences go to his loving wife and family.

I first met Dr. O'Toole in the early 80's at OSU Medical Center. In fact the first pathology slide I ever looked at was with him. He will be missed by many, many patients as well as friends. My deepest condolences to his family.

Dr. O'Toole was one of my mentors during my resident training in the USAF at Wilford Hall in San Antonio. He was a kind and compassionate teacher who love teaching gynecologic pathology. My most sincere sympathy to his family and loved ones.

I worked with Dr. O'Toole when he was Director of Med II, the second-year medical school class at OSU. He combined good judgment and compassion, and staff and students respected him. He was a good man. He will be missed.
