Ronald Stein Obituary

Stein Ronald Stein, the last of the illustrious Stein Family of Brookside Drive in Columbus, died on February 16, 2015, in Oakland, California. His musician father, Dick, was renown in Columbus from the 1950's through the 1980's for his band; his mother Shirley, for her work with the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, and Temple Israel; and his brother Richard as an attorney. Ron, a graduate of Eastmoor High and Ohio State University, was a talented drummer and a part of the upcoming band, Lycidas, in the late 1960's and early 1970's. Troubled then by drugs, and the mental and physical aftermath of an automobile accident, Ron moved to California where he became a Certified Nurse's Assistant working with quadriplegics. Following a seizure in 2001, Ron lost his short-term memory, requiring him to live in a skilled nursing facility until his death. Although his health had become extremely compromised, Ron saw life through a consistently positive lens. He was beloved to all who worked with him in the latter years because no matter what his condition, he was generous with his appreciation for everything done for him, and consistently kind to those around him. He was 66. Donations in his memory can be made to Building Opportunities for Self Sufficiency (BOSS), at self-sufficiency.org, or mailed to 2065 Kittredge Street, Ste. E, Berkeley, CA 94704. Condolences may be sent to his cousin, Ricky Jacobs, at 2728 Russell Street, Berkeley, CA 94705.
