Shannon Schmidt Obituary

Schmidt, Shannon
1971 - 2018
Shannon Erin Gallaher Schmidt, age 46, of Dublin, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Kobacker House. She was born November 16, 1971 in Bloomington, IN, the daughter of Christopher and Linda Gallaher of Morehead, KY. Growing up in Morehead, KY as the daughter of a music professor, Shannon played the piano, flute, and loved to sing. In the 7th grade, she found her true passion—basketball. At Rowan County HS, Shannon finished her career with over 1000 points. After graduating from Rowan County HS in 1990, Shannon attended the University of Louisville. In 1994 she graduated from Louisville with a BS in Business Administration with High Honors in Marketing. Following graduation, Shannon moved to Michigan where she began a successful career in business with Denso International America Inc. During Shannon's time in Michigan she met the love of her life, her future husband, Dave, and in 2002 they married. Later in 2002, the newly married couple relocated to Dublin, where Shannon took a lead role in opening the Dublin Denso office. Once settled in Dublin, Shannon and her family began a life of travel, sports, and many friendships. She had a strong faith in God, volunteering in many ways as a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Shannon loved to be active, whether it was running, shooting hoops in the driveway with her boys, or playing tennis. She was a fierce and determined competitor, a trait that helped Shannon battle her disease for 10 and a half years. Above all else, Shannon enjoyed spending time with her two boys, Aiden and Gabe. She loved watching them play sports, and her competitive spirit is seen in them. Her radiant smile lit up a room. She was a very kind and sweet woman, beautiful inside and out. Shannon's spirit, courage, strength, perseverance, grace and positive attitude will live on in all those who crossed her path. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, David Schmidt MD, of 16 years; and two children, Aiden David (13) and Gabriel William (10); her mother, Linda Gallaher; and her brother, Brent (Vanessa) Gallaher of Cincinnati, OH; and 5 nieces and nephews, and many cousins. A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, August 13 at 11 am at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Dublin, Ohio, 5475 Brand Rd, Dublin, OH, 43017. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 12 from 4-7 pm at the church and 10-11 am on Monday, August 13, prior to the service.
