Dear Nesie and Family:

I know your loss is great, but there is a great gain and rejoicing in heaven that Mama Shirley and my Dad William have now imparted. Not only that, she left here on earth a legacy of love, joy, and an intimacy with Christ that will shine with light and power for the days and years ahead. I thank her, through you, that years ago (Payne Street, Oakwood) I was given the desire to be saved. I pray that He will soon turn your mourning into dancing.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Mother, Sister, Friend, were do I begin you were all these things to me. A spiritual mother, who always knew when I was going through something. You would give me your pearls of wisdom, you always knew the right thing to say that would set me back on my course that God chose for me to follow. Sister Chambers I called you, in every sense of the word a true sister in the body of Christ. A Friend Forever your presence will be missed but now that you have graced God with your presence I know he is saying Shirley it is your time to rest Job well done. To Shirley's family may God bless and keep you in your time of sorrow.

I work in the Cleveland Parole Office and just want to express my heart felt sympathy for the loss of your mother. I know that at this moment you may feel that your pain will never go away. So all I will say is look to God to keep you and to carry you through this rough time, and remember that on that great day when the trumpet sounds, the dead in Christ will rise up from their sleep and you will be united forever more.

To the family,
Sister Chambers was one mighty woman in the Lord! What an inspiration she has been in the lives of many people. When the scripture instructed us to go forth and to multiply, she surely fulfilled that verse. She was the vessel God used to produce after her kind. Through her instructions, we learned first, how to love God. Even though we were not married at the time, she taught us young ladies- in -waiting, how to love our husbands. She had such a way of expressing her love for the Father that you could visualize her standing before his presence in worship. I am married today and I impliment the wonderful seeds of wisdom that I received at her feet as she sat at the feet of Jesus.
For the transparent life of Shirley M. Chambers, I am forever thankful.

Nesie, Karen, Kim, Hessim, Tracy and Jackie,

Your mother was a remarkable woman of God and I will truly miss her. Her unshakeable faith, her inner strenth and quiet grace is what I will always remember. I will miss her smile and her "Jesus Joy" hugs that she gave everytime she I saw her. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. God's grace is sufficient and he will give you the strenth to carry on. I love you!!!

This is a time of sorrow, but the joy of it all is that I was graced to know Shirley Chambers.
I remember from Oakwood Ave and on, the great experience of impartation gleaned from the Bible by Sis Chambers, and planted as living word in myself and as many as would listen.
God thank you for the loan and the rich deposit left, because of Shirley falling in love with you, and her eargerness to proclaim whatever you shared with her. My life has been made wealthier by this "LADY IN CHRIST"
