1932 - 2020
Shirley Unverzagt passed away at her home on December 23, 2020. She was born in Columbus, OH on January 7, 1932 and had spent most of her life as a resident of Central Ohio. She graduated South High School in 1949 and later earned a BA in accounting at Franklin University. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ruth, and her brother Rodman (SHS '42). She is survived by her daughters, Cindy and LeAnn, 3 grandchildren, 4 great-grand-children and 4 nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in Columbus, OH at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Schoedinger East.

Dear Members of Shirley's family -- I grew up about a block away from Shirley and played with her often. We were friends from first grade to South
HS graduation. We walked to school together through junior high school and South High days, sharing much of our daily lives. Shirley sent me a South High Optic ( class year book) after mine was destroyed in a wildfire that destroyed our home and all its contents. How great is that! But that was Shirley, always thinking of her old buddies. She was a wonder woman and I loved her dearly.

Shirley and I were in a Book Club at Reynoldsburg Senior Center. Even though I only had one close up conversation with her, I thought she was a very special woman. I always wanted to hear what she had to say about the topic because it was always carefully thought out and beautifully stated. There was such quality about her. I am so sorry not to have known her better. I hope that you are comforted by her goodness.
