Stephen Newton Obituary

Newton Stephen Lynn Newton, was born in Hamilton, Ohio in 1951 and died on July 8, 2016 at the farm in Alexandria, Ohio. Steve was preceded in death by his parents Nelson Wilgus and Irene (Rose) Newton. Steve is survived by his loving wife of nearly 42 years, Beverly (Grove) Newton; sister, Donna Newton of Palm Springs, CA; brother, Greg Newton of Palm Springs, CA; brother, Jeff Newton of Hamilton, OH; and many aunts, uncles and extended family. Steve enjoyed a successful career in IT computer programming before retiring to spend his life in the country with his best friend, Bev and their dogs, cats, donkeys and horses. Steve would tinker in his workshop, building, fixing, planting trees, driving his Gator, porch-sitting with his dog, Nuggett, watching wildlife, visiting friends and traveling to visit family. Steve enjoyed his bowling league, the occasional golf outing, boating trips, cabining weekends, collecting souvenir hats, his Corvettes, reading books on his phone and hiking in the woods. Steve was involved in Farm Bureau, Power Squadron, Habitat for Humanity and township zoning committee, among others. His spirit was generous and kind, always seeing the brighter side of everyone he met. Thanks to the Zangmeister Center and Hospice of Central Ohio for their wonderful care. A memorial gathering will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can made to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society or a local dog shelter. Arrangements are in care of CROUSE-KAUBER-FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, Johnstown, OH.

I will miss seeing Steve at the cafe in the early morning. We would talk about everything mostly about dogs, because I am the groomer next door. He told me how much his wife was his rock, how much he loved her. He was a kind man and the group of people at the cafe will truly miss him. I pray that God will hold you in the palm of his hand and bring you comfort.

Dear Beverly and family members - I had the pleasure of meeting Steve through Habitat for Humanity where I have worked for the last 3 years as the Volunteer Coordinator. Steve was a joyous and delightfully warm person, I feel honored to have had a scant time of getting to know him. His tireless work and thought for Habitat's benefit and those whom his generosity helped remains a legacy. May God give you strength and peace; I am so sorry for your loss. Rest well our friend Steve. Fond regards, Brenda Graham
