Theodora M. Kontras, age 92, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2017. Born on March 2, 1925 in Wheeling, WV to the late Nicholas and Theophany Maros. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, James Kontras; son, Nicholas Kontras; sisters, Angelina Varlas, Mary Voorhees, Stacy Klebe. Theo is survived by daughter, Denise Kontras; grandchildren, Kristen Friedrich and Ashley Merino, daughter-in-law, Karen Kontras; grandchildren, Kallie and James Kontras; great grandchildren, William and Evelyn; and dearest friends Joan Doukakis and Irene Antonios; many other relatives and friends. She was a dedicated, supportive loving mom, grandmother, aunt and friend who empowered others with her positive attitude and encouragement. Theo was a founding member of the Columbus Bar Association Alliance. Longtime member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and served as a Sunday School teacher and member of Philoptochos. She was an avid sports fan who followed OSU football and basketball, Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Cavaliers. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 17, 1:00 - 5:00 pm with Trisagion service at 2:00 pm at O. R. WOODYARD NORTHWEST CHAPEL 2990 Bethel Rd. Funeral services will be held on Monday, at 10:00 am at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral 555 N. High St. Father Demetrios Gardikes and Father John Stavropoulos. Interment Union Cemetery. Family suggests memorials to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral or the Memory Garden at National Church Residence at Mill Run 3350 Fishinger Blvd. Hilliard 43026.
