Thomas C. Fitzpatrick

Fitzpatrick Thomas C. Fitzpatrick, died October 11, 2014 at First Community Village. Born April 6, 1921 in Wooster, Ohio, graduated from Wooster High School as president of the Class of 1939. Enlisted in the U.S. Navy on December 8, 1941 and served until March, 1946, with the rank of Lieutenant. Graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. Registered Professional Engineer. Former waterboy, laborer, foreman, job superintendent, estimator, chief engineer, president, owner, and chairman of Elford, Inc. Served as president or chairman of Builders Exchange, Ohio AGC (and national director of AGC), Heart Association, Salvation Army, Rotary Club of Columbus (Rotary District Governor). Life member of the boards of the Salvation Army, the Simon Kenton Council, BSA. Served on boards of Grant Hospital, Columbus and Ohio Chambers of Commerce. Awards included BSA Silver Beaver, BX Cornerstone Award, Rotary MOY, Heart Association Distinguished Service Award, Doctors Hospital Golden Achievement Award, and Rotary International Service Above Self Award. Scholarships were established in his name at Builders Exchange of Central Ohio and Columbus Rotary. Preceded in death by parents Albert J. and Ruth (Shields) Fitzpatrick, first wife Margaret McDonald, second wife Josephine Kennedy, daughter-in-law Lynn (Scranton) and granddaughter Erin Fitzpatrick. Survived by sons, Michael J. (Jan), Thomas J. (Debra); daughter, Maureen (Richard) Amorose; grandchildren, Kelly (Brian) Mitchell, Courtney Huth, Michael B. (Lisa) Fitpatrick, Monica (David) Shaner, Andrew (Brigitte) Amorose, Thomas J. Fitpatrick. Also survived by Kathleen (Frank) Hatcher, Kristen (Brett) Howe, Anne (Doug) McCord, Susan (Mark) Piersma, John (Margaret) Kennedy and their children; 13 great grandchildren; cousins, Marcie Hoover and David Arnold. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St., Worthington, OH 43085. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Our Lady of Peace Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Columbus Rotary Foundation, Ohio Dominican University, Simon Kenton Council, Boy Scouts of America, or the Builders Exchange of Central Ohio Scholarship Fund.
