Timothy Gilmore Obituary

Gilmore Timothy Wilson Gilmore, born April 23, 1954 in St. Marys, Ohio, died on March 9, 2014 in Columbus. His parents Wilson George Gilmore and Rosemary Bechtel Gilmore Zicht, and his sister Leslie Gilmore Carter preceded him in death. Tim's survivors include his sister, Donna (Dan) Donovan of Upper Arlington, OH; and his brother, Terence (Trish) Gilmore of Colorado Springs, CO. He is also survived by step-father, Robert E. Zicht of Upper Arlington; and step-siblings and their spouses, Eric (Jennifer) Zicht of Vienna, VA, Laurie (Chuck) Sargent of Bethel Park, PA, Cheryl (Scott) Tate of Lake City, CO, and Robert (Karen) Zicht of Tampa, FL. Additional survivors are nieces, Erin M. Donovan and Lisa (Rich) Carter-Nathan; and nephews, Randy (Jenny) Carter and Brian (Hannah) Carter. Tim loved his family dearly as he did many genuinely close and devoted friends including Pat French, Bob Reitter, Billy and Cynthia Reinhart, Kathy Koch, Bob Fry, Tammy Freda, Teri Mertz, Dave Lambert, Keith Mellott, Bill Brooks, Jay Richter, Marty Flint, Jodi Hughes, Jack Scott, Steve Lucas, Danny Johnson, Susan Lewis, Chuck Rosser, Steve Ford, Gerry Hazelbaker, Debbie Atkins, and Laura Bruce. Tim graduated from Upper Arlington High School in 1972 and attended the University of Tennessee. After college, he moved to Albuquerque, NM and worked on the ATLAS-I project at Sandia Labs. He later moved to Arizona and Colorado where he worked on various construction projects before returning to Columbus in 2009 and working for WL Markings until his illness. Tim's cremated remains will return to Colorado to be cast along the western Rocky Mountains. Those who wish may contribute to Pilot Dogs, 625 West Town Street, Columbus 43215 or pilotdogs.org., or to their personal charitable cause. Tim's family and friends express genuine appreciation to the staff members of Ohio Health's HomeReach Hospice and of Kobacker House for their care, counsel, and kindness; for their personalization, perceptions, and professionalism during his final days. Unlike so many, Tim forever found beauty in life's simplicity. He lived life to the fullest, and he enjoyed each day because "Tomorrow's just another day." To celebrate Tim's life and the life he cherished, his family and treasured friends will gather at a later date in Columbus. Arrangements entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL. Growing up next door to the Gilmore family is an experience anyone would envy. While I was too young to be Donna's buddy and too old to be Tim's or Terry's ( Leslie was off in Texas by then, living the very glamorous life of a Braniff Airlines stewardess), there was always enough action around there to create many wonderful memories of shared childhoods: every kid in the neighborhood in the Gilmore's back yard playing volleyball...and, one memorable winter, ice skating. There were card games, Labor Neighbor Day, and stories of Boy Scout adventures shared by Tim, Mr. Gilmore, my brother Scott and dad Dave Crook.

I remember Tim as the kid next door: friendly, active, athletic, adventurous (and, when Scott and he were together, sometimes mischievous).

We were neighbors for ten years. This morning I heard of Tim's passing from another neighbor,Dennis Ross, who, along with his brothers, shared those happy days on our block.

I hope Tim's memories of that time were as happy and vivid as the memories that remain for the "Crook Kids" and Dennis.

And I hope memories of this and and other happy times you shared with Tim bring moments of grace to Donna and Terry and all of Tim's family during this sad time.

Sincerely, Pam Crook Raines

Tim,
You were always a great step-brother and I enjoyed our times together. You taught me a lot about life and how to view its beauty.
In my younger days I especially enjoyed the music you shared with me...
"The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" has forever been on my mind.
Peace to you and to all who follow.

I always remember Tim and Terry coming to visit and to play with me and my brothers. I can still see Tim's face in my minds-eye. I think of you in heaven with Grandma, your mom and my mom. Love, your cousin Sue Kaple (St. John) Zita's Daughter
