Having known Bill on both a professional and personal basis for 30+ years, I found him to be a person of integrity, objectivity and independence. As such, he was a credit to his profession. On a personal basis, Bill was a kind, gentle soul. This made him a friend for all seasons. Bill was a blessing in my life and I am forever grateful for his friendship.

Bill and I were colleagues at the Weirton Daily Times in the '70s and we kept up from time to time since. I've always admired his skill, toughness and intellect. He was the epitome of journalistic professionalism and excellence. My condolences to his friends and family.

I knew Bill from elementary school. His mom was our Cub Scout den mother. We lost touch when I moved to California, and just briefly re connected a few years ago. I am so sorry to hear of his passing.

Bill & I worked together at the Charleston Daily-Mail in the mid-1980s & had stayed in touch throughout the years. He had a sardonic wit that was aimed only at those who deserved it; he was also the kindest & best of friends. His wife, Jenny reached out with a note that arrived this afternoon to say he is gone. Anyone whose life he touched would say that we are better for having known him. He was a good friend; I will miss knowing he is in this world.

Bull was a highly intelligent man who wrote with eloquence and purpose. He was a quintessential journalist. His personal strength and determination to rise above physical limitations was truly inspirational.
Bill was an advocate for business and especially manufacturing in Washington State. His constancy of purpose over many years made him one of the pre-eminent experts about manufacturing in our state.
It was always a pleasure to see Bill and discuss our shared passion for manufacturing.
He was an important cog in the Washington State business wheel and will be sorely missed.

I knew Bill as a good friend for more than 50 years, starting with Dominion Junior High School. He really found the right calling as a business journalist -- he had a lively and witty mind that expressed itself in clear writing which was always a pleasure to read. Though we kept in touch by e-mail, I last saw Bill in person years ago when he came to New York, where I work, to receive an award from his publisher, Hearst. Unfortunately, I was never able to visit Bill and his family in the Seattle area, where after his newspaper work there ended he and his wife ended up reviving a used bookstore!
Bill accomplished much personal and public good for any man, let alone one afflicted as he was since young adulthood with a crippling disease that he handled bravely. Bill was a true friend and an admirable man. God bless his family, and may he rest in peace.

I worked with Bill for many years at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. He was a brilliant thinker and writer, and I was honored to know him and his wife. His integrity made him a respected journalist. Underneath his serious demeanor was a wonderfully-surprising sense of humor!
Much love to his family.

Knew Bill from school. His ability to use words to paint a masterpiece was incredible. He proved that the pen is indeed mightier than the sword. RIP friend
