Philip Mark Wolters, age 59, of Atchison, Kansas, died September 15, 2025. Mark was born on July 12, 1966, in Atchison, Kansas, the son of Philip Maur Wolters and Roberta (Besette) Wolters. He was a graduate of Maur Hill Prep, class of 1984. He enjoyed Boy Scouts growing up, Troop #255, and achieved his Eagle Scout.
Mark found the love of his life, Joanne Hurst, and they were married a year later on February 14, 2005, in Las Vegas. She unexpectedly passed just a few weeks later on March 7, 2005.
Mark spent over twenty years as an operator at MGP Ingredients and later owned and operated American Exterminators for more than ten years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, joined the Atchison Elks Lodge in October of 1987, and was a former chaplain of the Sons of the American Legion. Mark will be remembered for his big heart and was always looking for an opportunity to help others
He is survived by his mother, Roberta Wolters; his sisters, Karen (Doug) Schultz, Katherine Kohler, Kim (Gary) Lewman, Debbie (Brick) Rigden, Denise (Ryan) Thomas; and his numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Phil Wolters; and his wife Joanne.
Mass of Christian burial will be on Friday, September 19, 2025, at St. Joseph Church at 11:00 a.m. A rosary will be on Friday, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with visitation to follow before the mass at the church. He will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be left to St. Benedict Catholic School in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.
