Etta Gandy Obituary
She was born to Maceo and Deliah Jordon on November 11, 1953 in Chickasaw County. She was a member of Black Oak MB Church, a class of 1971 graduate and a retired educator from Okolona Elementary School.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Fred M. Gandy Sr., daughters, Rachel Hearn (Rev. Marcus) and Latonya Gandy; son, Frederick M. Gandy Jr.; brothers, Maceo Jordon Jr. (Tonio) , Gregory Jordon, Scott Jordon (Charnekee); sisters, Barbara Ann Bizzell (Joe), Lillie Mae Barns (Rev. John), Juanita Abram (Bobby), Linda Douglas (Jessie); seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Black Oak M.B. Church at 5-7 pm on Friday, October 31, 2025. Services will be 11:11 am on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Okolona High School Gymnasium with Dr. John H. Anderson officiating. Burial will follow the services in Black Oak Cemetery. Bailey Funeral Home in Okolona is in charge of the arrangements.

I always admired the calm manner that she used when discipline her class. Her catch phase was "You can´t possibly think that you were making a good decision". I will always remember her Claus motto, Do Unto Others ". Blessed to have known such a virtuous woman of God.

I truly enjoyed getting to know Etta Gandy. I had the privilege of working with her at Okolona Elementary School from 1993 to 1997. She loved her students and the faculty and I am grateful to say that she was my friend. She will be missed, but oh what a wonderful day of reunion it will be when we all get to Heaven. Blessings to Fred and the family. All of you will be in our prayers.
