Gerald McLemore Obituary

A service will be held for Mr. Gerald R. McLemore on February 3, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at First Methodist Church in Corinth, Mississippi.

Mr. Gerald McLemore died on January 28, 2026. He was born on January 1, 1949 in Corinth, Mississippi to the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard McLemore. He graduated in 1967 from Corinth High School and went to Northeast Community College where he completed his freshman year. He then graduated from Mississippi State University where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was a graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Law where he was selected to be a member of the Mississippi Law Journal. Gerald was a partner in the law firm of Price, Krohn, and McLemore in Corinth. In 1996, he became corporate counsel and president of SouthBank for Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama.

Through the following years, he served on the Mississippi Economic Council, the Community Development Council, Corinth Library board, King-Norman Incorporated Wholesale Distributor board of directors, SouthBank board of directors, Corinth City Park board, and Alcorn County Bar Association.

Gerald served as president of the Chamber of Commerce Board of directors. He served as president of the The Alliance and received the Service to The Alliance award. He served as president of the Rotary Club of Corinth where he received the Paul Harris Fellow award and Outstanding Rotarian for Service Beyond Self award.

Gerald also received the Mainstreet Corinth Jack Hora Service award and was mentioned several times as the "Best Boss" in The Daily Corinthian annual contest. Gerald recently proudly received a 50-year membership status in the Mississippi Bar Association.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Corinth where he served in many leadership roles, including; pastor-parish relations, lay leader, as well as, numerous other positions on the administrative council.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Norman McLemore of 53 years, his children, Mary Johns McLemore Pittman (Tom), and Dr. Gerald R. McLemore, Jr. "Gere" (Mollie Walker), his brother, Dr. Curt McLemore (Tanya), 4 grandchildren; Stella Cate McLemore, Mae Walker McLemore, Clara Margaret McLemore, Mary Nancy Pittman, and two nephews; Estes McLemore (Jessica) and Dr. Goodson McLemore.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Norman and his grandson, Johns Thomas Pittman.

Pallbearers include Clyde Barron, Braddock Brawner, William Butler, Jack Clement, Bill Dalton, Tony Harlow, John D. Mercier, Mike Pittman, Lon Taylor, and Mike Tyler.

Honorary Pallbearers include David Brawner, Dr. Benton Dupont, Bill Hershey, Phil Hinton, Wendall Trapp, Jett Wilson, and, also, the members of the Tuscumbia River Bottom Farm hunting club, and his longtime coffee group.

Arrangements are under the care of Memorial Funeral Home.
