Hoyt Beddell "Pop" Greer

1933 - 2025

Hoyt Beddell "Pop" Greer, 92, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Baldwyn Nursing Facility. Pop was born to Paul and Gladys Plummer Greer of the Alpine Community, and he was a devoted Christian husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a hardworking provider for his family, working many years as a furniture salesman and cattle farmer. He enjoyed spending time with his family, as well as, serving his church, Zion Hill Baptist. Hoyt served many years as a deacon and with the youth group. He was a lifetime member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be at Zion Hill Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 @ 2:00 p. m. with Bro. Larry Dunlap and Bro. Mark Harrison officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Hill Cemetery. Waters Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Hoyt is survived by his daughter-in-law, Ruth; grandsons, Shohn (Kelli) and Kirk (Kristy); great-granddaughters, Savannah and Izabella; sisters-in-laws, Edie Butler, Ann Bailey and Sarah Little; his nieces and their families, Dana Sistrunk, Belinda Jones and Judy Barnes; his special cousin, Pat Loyd.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Espie Greer, his wife of 71 years, Betty Dale Greer; his son, Hoyt Beddell Greer Jr. and grandson, Justin Greer.

Pallbearers will be Dusty Prather, Ben Roberts, Steven Guess, James Randle, Bob Hutcheson and Ty Swindle.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Zion Hill Baptist Church, Breland Randle, John Epting and Roy Prather.

Visitation will be at Waters Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. and will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
