James "Jimmy" Holmes

1933 - 2015

WEST POINT – Mr. James ""Jimmy"" Holmes, 82, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Mr. Jimmy was born in West Point, the son of the late Russell and Mildred Horner Holmes. He was a member of First Baptist Church in West Point. He married Mary Jim Hawkins on May 15, 1954, in West Point. He worked at Babcock and Wilcox as a ""A"" welder for 30 years. He was also the barn nanager at The West Point Stockyard for 20 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Cox and Betty Reed, and on brother, Johnnie Holmes.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 3, 2015, at 10 a.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Dale Funderburg officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jim Holmes, and his daughter, Jimmie Carol Harris, both of West Point.
Pallbearers will be Bill Cox, Rusty Cox, Eddie Holmes, Scott Holmes, Keith Hawkins, Todd Hawkins, Jay Hawkins and Kevin Hawkins.Honorary pallbearers will be Steve White, Brillo Edwards, Freddie Swain, Johnnie Manning, Dud Hughes, Wally Miles, Rex Pumphrey, Kenny Reed, the former employees of Babcock and Wilcox, and the employees of West Point Stockyard.
