J.C. Poteet Obituary

J.C. Poteet, Sr., 78, died Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at The Meadows after a short illness. He was born May 24, 1939, in Itawamba County to J.W. and Fern Russell Poteet. He was a barber at Fulton Barber Shop for many years. He then worked at Kay Springs in Tupelo and had worked at Wal-Mart before retiring. He loved horses and his rabbit beagles, but his greatest joy came from his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Glenda Crabb Poteet; one son, Rodney Poteet (Sue) of Ozark; two daughters, Gina Hood (Keith) of Tupelo, and Rose Williams (Rick) of Ozark; one brother, Bob Poteet (Marilyn) of Kenosha, WI; three sisters, Susie Mansell (Robert) of Tupelo, Sally Johnson of Peaceful Valley, and Janice McKay of Swartz Creek, MI; four grandchildren, Hannah Patterson (Neil), Ross Hood, Amber McCarty (Jarred), and Whit Williams.

He was preceded in death by one son, J.C. Poteet, Jr.; seven brothers and sisters; and his parents.

Visitation will be from 3 p. m. until service time Saturday at the Ozark Baptist Church.
