Jimmy Neal "Jim" Easley, 87, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025, on his beloved farm called "The Flat Busted" in Abbeville, Mississippi. Born December 9, 1938, in
Tyronza, Arkansas. Jimmy was the son of the late Leo Wallace and Lena Mae Easley. From the beginning, his life was shaped by deep faith, hard work, quick wit, and a boundless love for his family.
Jim graduated from Whitehaven High School in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1955. He went on to proudly serve his country for eight years in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he built a long and dedicated career with the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1993. His devotion to service, whether to his country, community, church, or family, was a defining feature of his life.
A devoted member of College Hill Heights Baptist Church in
Oxford, Mississippi, Jim served faithfully as a deacon. His sense of humor, warmth, and gift for storytelling made him a friend to many and a steady, comforting presence within his church family.
Jim was happiest outdoors. He cherished his time on the farm, especially driving his tractor or tending to the land he loved. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and sitting by his pond feeding the fish, always accompanied by the farm cat he named Mickey. An avid HAM radio operator, he delighted in talking and sharing stories with people all around the world. Above all, Jim loved his family and church deeply; they were his greatest joy, and the heart of his life.
Jim was preceded in death by his first wife of 52 years, Billie Clarine Cantrell Easley, who passed away in 2010.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy Easley; his daughter, Sandra E. Hugueley, and her husband Butch; his son, Jon S. Easley, and his wife Sylvia Hancock; his stepson, Robert Sterling Lee, Jr., and his wife Cameron; grandchildren Grace Hugueley (Taylor), Kyle Hugueley (Juliannia), Benjamin Lee, Taylor Paul Lee; and his brother, Jerry Don Easley, and his wife, Sue.
Jim's humor, kindness, and steadfast love will be dearly missed. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the community and church he served, and the many lives he touched with his gentle spirit.
Honoring Jim's final wishes, there was no public service. Interment will take place later with a private family celebration and tribute to his life.
Any memorials may be sent to College Hill Heights Baptist Church,
Oxford, Mississippi, to support Sean Glidewell's Mission work in West Africa, or to Mexico Missions to continue an amazing ministry Jim had supported monthly for fifty years.
