Jo Cayson Obituary

Jo Ann Cayson, 85, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025 at North MS Medical Center, Hospice Unit. She was born in Lee County to Forrest and Lera Bradley Wesson on January 26, 1940. Jo Ann graduated from Tupelo High School where she was an outstanding basketball player. She was a longtime legal secretary, working for Mitchell McNutt and Claude Clayton, Jr. and attended Auburn Baptist Church. She enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband, and the rest of the gang, spending time with her swim exercise group, in and out of the pool, and watching Mississippi State sports. Most of all, she loved the time she spent with her family and friends.

She is survived by her two sons, Stephen Cayson (Polly Ann) of Huntsville, AL and David Cayson (Stephanie) of Tupelo; three grandchildren, Alex Cayson (Meg), Maggie Jackson (Forrest) and Emma Cayson; one step great grandson Everett Russell; one brother, Erskin Wesson (Melanie) of Tallahassee, FL; one sister-in-law, Barbara Wesson of Tupelo; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maxie Cayson; her brother, Eugene Wesson; two sisters, Becky Long and Melinda Wesson.
