Lucille Payton Obituary
She professed a hope in Christ and was a member of Union Prospect M.B. Church in New Albany, MS, where she served on the Mother Board and attended faithfully until her health failed.
Lucille married Roosevelt Payton, Sr., who she lovingly called "Rose." Together they were blessed with seven beautiful children. She was employed as a housekeeper with Roselawn Nursing Home for thirty-five years. Her favorite past times was talking on the phone and watching her "stories", Days of Our Lives. She also enjoyed shopping and riding in the "grey car" with her daughter, Vera. Lucille loved all and she was loved by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vance Boyd, Sr. and Nylean Boyd; her husband, Roosevelt Payton, Sr.; four sisters, Mary McAllister, Dora Gilbert, Roxy Bean Boyd, and Annie D. Berry; and one son-in-law, Roosevelt "Sonny" Farr.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, seven children: Nylean Parks of Atlanta, GA, Roosevelt Payton, Jr. of New Albany, MS, Vera Farr of New Albany, MS, Dorothy (John) Howell of New Albany, MS, Debra (Rick) Golden of Fayetteville, GA, Johnny (Mildred) Payton of New Albany, MS, and Jennifer (Leo) Kimmons of New Albany, MS; twelve grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; three brothers, Vance (Katie) Boyd, Jr. of New Albany, MS, Dennis (Francis) Boyd of Belden, MS, and Charles (Dianna) Boyd of New Albany, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, April 5, 2024, from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Payton Mortuary. The family hour will be from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Funeral service will be Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 1:00 PM at New Birth Community Church in New Albany, MS. Viewing available one hour before service. Interment will be at Union Prospect MB Church Cemetery in New Albany, MS. Services entrusted to Payton Mortuary.

I loved Ms. Lucille she was the kindness soul I ever met. Always thought positive, and never missed an opportunity to share with you her love for OUR GOD. SHE was most certainly a blessing to my life. We didn't lose her she just went home. A new Birth in heaven happy Birthday Ms. LUCILLE.
