Marjorie M. Jones

1944 - 2025

Marjorie Miller Jones, 80, of Shannon, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 4, 2025, surrounded by her family.

She was born October 24, 1944, in Okolona, MS, to the late Matthew and Eliza Beatrice Shaw Miller. The youngest of 15 children, she shared a special bond with her twin sister, the late Marguerite Holland. Marjorie graduated from Siggers High School and later married Rev. Carl Z. Jones. Together they shared 58 years of marriage, raising a family rooted in love and faith.

She worked more than 30 years at Hancock Fabrics in Tupelo before retiring in 2007. A lifelong resident of Shannon, she was a devoted member of Pine Grove M. B. Church and a strong supporter of her husband's ministry for over three decades. She also served with the Aberdeen-Tupelo District Ministers' Spouses.

Marjorie was also a proud member of the United League of Northern Mississippi, serving with courage and determination as a civil rights activist.

She will be remembered as honest, kind, and devoted to her family. She loved cooking for others and always made those around her feel welcomed.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. Carl Z. Jones; her five children, Phyllis Monique Caples, Carl Anthony (Carla) Jones, Marcia Jones, Marcus Jones, and Kerry (Nikkia) Jones; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Pine Grove M. B. Church in Shannon, MS. Visitation will be at the church two hours prior to service.
