Oliver Faust

2008 - 2024

One of Mooreville's most promising young men, David Oliver Faust, perished as a result of a motor vehicle accident on Hwy 371 South in Itawamba Co. on Thursday afternoon, June 20, 2024. He had just turned 16 on April 18, 2024. Born in Tupelo on April 18, 2008 to David Faust and Alexandria Leathers Faust, Oliver was a lifelong resident of Mooreville and attended Mooreville School all his life. He was an incoming junior and an athletic star of renown. Oliver excelled in varsity soccer, varsity football, ran cross country, and was a three-time state champion in Taekwondo. Oliver was a handsome, stout young man whose goodness, kindness, and sterling personality made him singularly the best friend of everyone. His smile was radiant, his manners perfect, and his genuine interest in the wellbeing of his family and friends made him extremely popular. A lover of all God's creation and all outdoors, he enjoyed animals, disc golf, and playing basketball and music. Oliver's diverse approach to life and inclusiveness made him likeable and approachable by all. He enjoyed attending and participating in the youth programs at Richmond Baptist Church.

A service celebrating his life will be held at 5 PM Monday, June 24, 2024 in the Mooreville School Gym with Youth Pastor Dubs Leslie speaking as well as remarks by others. Private family burial will take place in Kirkville Cemetery north of Mantachie. Visitation will take place at the gym beginning at 3 PM Monday only and continue until service time. Oliver is survived by his mom, Alexandria "Alex" Faust of Ballardsville; his dad, David Faust (Amy) of Mooreville; his grandparents, David and Jennifer Faust of Mooreville, Shannon Grugel of Saltillo, and Greg Leathers of Memphis; his great-grandmother, Sue Portier of Tupelo; 5 sisters, Ella Faust, Rylea Parker, Lydia Tackett, Abigail Johnston, and Cadence Reese; special aunt and uncle, Jackie and Aaron Gardner of Mooreville and their children, Jackson, Eli, Vallen and Cody; his girl friend, Lily Clayton, and a special friend, Master Jonathan Hedrick, and all those from Mooreville High School who loved and appreciated his presence among them.

Honorary pallbearers will be the soccer and football teams at Mooreville High School.
