Patsy Huskey Obituary

Patsy F. Huskey, 68, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo. Born on April 15, 1948, in Amory, she was a daughter of the late Guy Clifton and Martha Elizabeth Rye Fowlkes.

Patsy graduated with the Hatley High School Class of 1966. She attended New Hope Primitive Baptist Church in Hatley and she most recently attended Sulphur Springs Primitive Baptist Church in Greenwood Springs, MS. Patsy worked at the P & S Clinic Administrative office for several years. After marrying Jerome Huskey, she worked primarily on the family farm. Patsy was blessed with a son yet she was a mother to many as she loved on everyone with whom she built relationships. Influenced by the service of her parents and late husband, Patsy was a Patriot who was very active in community service. She was a die-hard Democrat who loved her country and greatly valued the price paid for our freedom. Patsy undoubtedly had a contagious, deep-core value of respect for America.

Patsy lived a life of service, contributing 30 years to the American Legion Auxiliary while being instrumental in her contribution to Girls' State. She also was on the Monroe County Executive Committee, and longtime poll worker, a Monroe County School Board Member and helped establish the Advanced Learning Center in Becker. She also helped with an initiative to provide weather alert radios to Senior Citizens. Patsy had a crush on Tom Selleck and she loved listening to Elvis.

Her overwhelming gift of compassion and desire to help women was evident to anyone she met. Patsy had a huge sympathetic heart and was very generous and giving. She had a special close bond with her mother, her son and her family. She was a supporter, a cheerleader, a great Nana, and an amazing woman. During her lifetime, she impacted many lives and inspired many people to reach for their dreams. Her memories will be cherished forever by all that knew and loved her.

Survivors include her son, Kelly Miller (Drea) of Bloomington, IL; step-sons, Craig Huskey (Rhonda), Amory, Tyler Huskey; grandchildren, Oliver Miller; Max Fecht; Haley and Ashley Huskey; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Ashley; brothers, Doug Fowlkes (Stephina), Amory, Steve Fowlkes (Sandy), Amory; nieces and nephews, Will Fowlkes; Neil Palmer; Hunter and Forest Williams; Steve Miller; Sharon Green; Stacey Brown; Steven and Michael Huskey; Ginger Moore; Glenn Weaver; Meachell Elam; Chris Miller; Sherry George; and near and dear extended loved ones in the Miller and Huskey Families.
