Philip James Carney

1958 - 2016

WALNUT – Philip James ""Phil"" Carney, 57, resident of the Chalybeate Community and retired insurance adjuster, died Sunday Feb. 21, 2016, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth following an extended illness. Services honoring the life of Mr. Carney will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home. Burial will be in French Park, Ireland, the beloved home of his ancestors.
A native of New York State, Mr. Carney served as an independent insurance adjuster for much of his life before retiring for health reasons. He had been a resident of Pompano Beach, Florida, before moving to Tippah County to be near his family members. He was a Catholic and will be remembered for his love of the ocean and boating. Fishing , traveling and woodworking were favorite past times. Phil had a special place in his heart for his pet chihuahua ""Taco"".
A visitation for family and friends will be at Ripley Funeral Home two hours before services.
He leaves a loving family that includes his father, John F. Carney of Walnut; two sisters, Denise Ladnier (Gene) of Walnut and Patricia Prestano (Dominic) of Ocala, Florida; five brothers, Robert Carney of Walnut, John F. Carney Jr. (Lauretta) of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Stephen and Kenneth Carney (Donna), both of Pompano Beach, Florida, and Paul Carney (Debbie) of Gardiner, New York. His mother, Jeanette Riche Carney preceded him in death.
