Mrs. Rae was a vital part to my childhood in Monterey, VA. I spent countless hours with her at her home after church or just during the week after school. We would play on the playground, sing, dance, make crafts... she was a ball of energy and I loved it! I have so much gratitude for this woman and all she has done for me. She started as my Little Rock teacher and her words of wisdom followed me into adulthood. My fondest memory would be each year I would help her set up her Christmas tree. We would listen to Elvis music and sing and dance while we decorated. After it was finished we would turn all of the lights off and lay under the tree and take in all of the pretty lights. I still find myself laying in the living room floor under the Christmas tree after everyone has gone to bed. To know her was to love her and be loved in return. What an awesome woman and how blessed we all are to have had her in our lives!

Rae was a huge part of my childhood and teenage life and also so many others in Highland County Virginia. She was basically Highland High Schools Godmother. Not only did she take care of 5 boys of her own, but so many kids at the school. I believe she made the bulk of the boys basketball team their uniforms and warm-ups in the early to mid 80's. She hosted "5th quarter" whereas all the Highland Sports teams were invited and encouraged to attend to eat and fellowship after games. There she would be ready to feed any number of kids with homemade pizza and all kinds of snacks. She and her husband Jerry took me on some of their mission trips to build church's throughout the eastern US. I will never forget the experiences and youth trips that happened in their Burgundy Ford Van. It must have had 500,000 miles on it!
She was such a a special person and I am blessed and better to have known her.
Love you Rae! And much love to the Ginn family.
