The one and only Wayne Walls passed away to his Heavenly home the evening of March 16, 2026 after a recent decline in health. He was born on December 4, 1941 in
Pontotoc, MS to Bera & Annie Mae Simmons Walls. His father passed away when he was only 18 months old. His mother later married Carl Brandon and they moved to Tupelo. He had many adventures with numerous friends he made along the way. In his younger years, some of his best memories were when he would go fishing with his friend Mr. Hoyt. He married the love of his life in October of 1963 and welcomed Ted, Becky, and Chrissy as his family and lovingly helped raise them, and then later helped raise grands and great grands. He was a devoted member of South Green Baptist Church in Tupelo, but had also attended Grace Baptist Church in Guntown, First Baptist Church in Baldwyn, and Ingram Baptist Church in Baldwyn. He and his step-father owned a bus line in Tupelo, where he met many people and had countless stories that he would love to tell and get so tickled. He also had other jobs, but retired from Super Sagless, where he also met many people, especially his friend Jimmy Sprouse - he and Jimmy would always tell people that they had known each other since they were babies. Wayne will always be remembered as being a devoted neighbor and friend as referred to in Mark 12:31 "Love your neighbor as yourself". He was so kind and touched so many lives. While sharing the news of his passing, a few things said were "He was a dang good man" "He is going to be missed" and "Nobody can be as good a neighbor as him".
He is now at peace and reunited with Sue, whom he truly loved and has deeply missed her every second of every day since her passing in September of 2020. Also, with his Mother, whom he loved with all his being.
Survivors include his sister Jo & her husband Jerry and family; step-daughter Chrissy; step-son Ted and his wife Kathey; numerous grands and great grands (special great grandson Braxton); sister-in-law Ellon and family; and a multitude of family and friends; special friends Cassie Needham, Marge Stephens, and Mark Funderburk who helped care for him; and last but surely not least his furry sidekick, Willie who he raised from a 4 week old kitten and loved with all his heart.
He was preceded in death by all his parents; his brother Laverne; step-daughter Becky and grandson Dusty; daughter-in-law Diane.
Funeral services will be at 3pm on Sunday, March 22, 2026 @ Waters Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1pm.
