William Reeder Obituary

William Lynn "Bill" Reeder, 86, of Tupelo, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on October 30th, 2025 at North Mississippi Medical Center surrounded by close members of his family.

Bill was born on August 13, 1939, in Pontotoc, Mississippi, to Myrtis Bost Reeder Barlow and Walter Leonard "Lynn" Reeder. He had a beloved brother Ellis Adrian Reeder from Pontotoc that he spoke with daily. He graduated from Mississippi State University in just three years with a double major in science and social studies.

He began his career as a football coach in Clarksdale and then Amory, Mississippi, instilling discipline and teamwork in countless young athletes. Bill later worked with Ram Golf Corporation and Ralston Purina Company before dedicating 25 years as a field officer with the Mississippi Public Service Commission, serving his community with integrity and commitment. Bill loved his devoted wife, Scarlett Lee "Windham" Reeder, with whom he shared 64 wonderful years. He was deeply invested in the lives of their three children - Jeff Reeder (Lee), Missy "Reeder" Sheffield (Eric), and Walter Windham Reeder Sr. (Kim). He thought the world of his grandchildren, Kirk Reeder (Destiny), Ross Reeder, Kyle Weaver, Wesley Weaver, Anna Reed Wood (Clayton), Walter Windham Reeder II and great grandchildren Crixus Weaver, Easton and Olivia Wood, Kaden Reeder. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Wilson Reeder. Bill had a passion for family, always eager to participate in his children's and grandchildren's activities. He loved the friendships he developed with people from all walks of life. There weren't many places he went where he didn't run into someone he knew or had helped out in one way or another over the years. He enjoyed working in his yard, caring for every pet he ever owned, and was a devoted fan of the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Those who knew him remember his warmth, dedication, and love for life. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church, 400 W. Jefferson St., Tupelo, MS 38804, with visitation from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a local animal shelter or a children's charity of your choice in Bill's honor.
