We would like to express our sincere condolences on the recent passing of Clyde Willis, Professor at MTSU. We, his Russian friends, are proud to have had him as a visiting professor at Syktyvkar University (Russia) in 1996. His colleagues and students here respected him and highly valued his deep knowledge of the subjects he taught, his openness and friendliness, his teaching talent and inquiring mind. We will remember Clyde as a very special and extraordinary man, and, though our meetings with him since 1996 have been rare, we did feel he was our friend. We want to pass our heartfelt sympathy to our dear friend Irina, his wife, and also to his children and grandchildren.
Galina and Tatyana, for the Department of English and French at Syktyvkar State University (Russia).

Dr. Clyde Willis, aka "don't call me Dr. Willis, I'm just Clyde", was more than a professor. He believed in me and made a difference in my life. As a 36 year old adult in a classroom full of young people, I was overwhelmed. He made me think and sat with me for hours just talking about life. He attended my graduation dinner in 2013 as a member of my family. MTSU mourns the loss of a colleague. I mourn the loss of a mentor and most importantly friend.

Very much enjoyed reading about Clyde (he is our friend) as he appeared to be a born teacher who led by example in and outside the classroom. Keep up the great work Willis Family. Lead on!

To the Family of Clyde: So sorry to read of Clyde's passing. He was a teenage friend of mine and a relative through marriage. My Sister Bea was married to Clyde's Uncle Sonny. They are both deceased. May God give you all peace and comfort. Prayers for everyone.
