It broke my spirit when I heard of his passing. Guy met me and my family because of a legal matter but often shared words of wisdom and personal stories with my family. I feel the loss as if I had loss someone biologically connected. He was a special kind of attorney who knew and understood the system and the challenges faced by minorities. Individuals with his integrity are rare. There is now a void in the legal community and in the hearts of those he touched. Prayers for his family and for the community he served.

I haven't seen Guy but a few times since high school. We played football at Riverdale, although he was a couple of years younger than me. I always had great regard for his family. Then I moved to Winchester and was able to meet his extended family. As a matter of fact, I worked with Jackie Collins, a cousin and a fine person. All of the Dotson's are wonderful people and I know that Guy carried on that tradition as a person, as an attorney, as a father, and as a Christian. I am sad today to know that my friend has passed far too young. My prayers go out to the entire family.

Coach guy was undoubtly the best coach Ive ever had. He taught me so much about being a man, being an athlete, and taking care of things that need to be done. I remember one day I was at his house with his son Trey and the trash needed to be taken out. Trey and I were reluctant to do so, and Guy said: whenever theres something that needs to be done, dont wait, just do it. That spoke volumes to me and is something Ill never forget. He was my basketball, football, and baseball coach from age 10-13. He was the welcome party that welcomed me to TN. This man will forever be missed and there are MANY whose lives are changed in his wake.

Nicole and family, you have our sincere and deepest sympathy. We are very saddened about this news. We met Guy when we moved to Murfeesboro in 2003. He was our sons basketball and football coach. He taught our son so much about good sportsmanship. One funny memory was when the team was playing basketball, he told our son that he wanted to see better defense. Guy said, I want you to defend him so well that I want to know what he had for breakfast. Wonder if he ever told him. Ha ha ha. And Guy was always encouraging when he would see us out exercising. What a great guy. We will miss seeing him around town and in the hood. God bless you and your family. If you need anything, let us know. Praying.
