John Davis Obituary
Murfreesboro - John " Tommy" Davis, age 82 of Murfreesboro died Saturday June 9, 2018. He was a native of Rutherford County and was the son of the late, Cecil and Lorene Boyd Davis. Mr. Davis was a member of Kingwood Church of Christ and former owner of Jr.'s Foodland on Main St. in Murfreesboro.
He is survived by his wife of 61years, Bobbie Jean Davis; daughter, Bev Davis of Old Hickory; brothers, William Carl Davis and wife Mary of Murfreesboro, Phillip Wayne Davis of Murfreesboro.
Visitation will be 3PM to 7PM Monday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be 1PM Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jeff Brown, Roy Nance and Brian Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Republican Grove Cemetery with Military Honors. www.woodfinchapel.com

Tommy was my first boss, he taught me a lot and was like a father to me! He created a work ethic in me that I still carry today with the words always treat the customers right ringing in my head! Were going to miss you Tommy!!

My name is Don Craven, son in law to the late Jack and Sara Mae Kelton. I first come to Murfreesboro on September 29, 1968, to meet Beverly. I have fond memories going into Jr's on main street, where Beverly's mother, did her shopping. Their son, Freddy once worked there, I was told. I married Beverly on June 4, 1971, she passed away on Feb. 17, 2017. I have some fond memories of Murfreesboro, Jr's. being one of those places. At Christmas we'd buy a country ham that hung on the rack in the back of the store to bring back to Alabama. Beverly would say, "there no hams like Jr's". My thoughts and prayers to the family at this time of sadness.
