I am so sorry to hear that Ray Patterson has passed away. When I started volunteering at Stones River National Battlefield in March, Ray became a mentor to me on how to introduce visitors to the park. He and I volunteered on the same day of the week (I came in the morning and he came in the afternoon) and we had about an hour overlap at noon where we were able to get to know each other and he was able to show me how he approached visitors coming to the park and how he provided them information about the battle and the park. We also learned that we had served in the USAR together around the same time under the same headquarters unit in Nashville, and had mutual friends from our service in the Army Reserve. I was in Wyoming last week and just returned, so I was shocked to find out today that he had passed away! I knew that he had heath problems, but he was a trooper, never complaining and never really talking much about that. Please accept my sincere condolences, and God's blessings and comfort to the family as they grieve the loss of a mighty fine man, and a mighty fine soldier who served his country with honor.

I am so very sorry to hear of Ray's passing. I knew him through the doctor's office I worked at and my husband (John) being a member of the R.O.M.E.O.S group. Ray was truly a gentleman and always had a smile. He will be dearly missed. I pray for his family and friends for peace and comfort during this difficult time.
