Ryan Steelman Obituary
Jacob Ryan Steelman was born November 24, 1994 and passed from this earth on May 31, 2016.
Born with great fanfare on Thanksgiving Day in 1994, Ryan continued to live his life in a grand and exuberant way. From his ability to talk his way into and out of anything, to his generous and kind spirit, with both friends and strangers, Ryan was a force to be reckoned with.
His great loves were music and his guitar, playing in a band, adventure, reading and learning. Always a student, he questioned everything, and while that sometimes frustrated those who raised him, it also made him easy to talk to, and open to hearing personal stories. He was truly fearless, recently traveling alone to explore New York City, making friends along the way.
His friends and family cherished his kindness, humor, and above all his deep loyalty to those that he cared about, which number in the hundreds. He leaves an unfillable space in both our lives and in the world.
Ryan is survived by his parents, Karen McMillan (Jaret) and Jamie Steelman (Stacy); his siblings, Jordan Steelman, Baylor Steelman, Nikolas McMillan, Gabby McMillan, Gabby Morocco, Nick Morocco, and Willa Morocco. He is also survived by his grandparents, Patrick and Barbara Bisson and Kelli and Troy Toney. Other survivors include numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Kathryn MacArthur and paternal grandfather, James R. Steelman.
Visitation with the family will be 11:30 AM until service time at 1:30 PM, Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Jennings and Ayers with Chris Day officiating.
Memorials can be made in flowers or donations to Youth Empowerment through Arts and Humanities, Inc (YEAH!), a nonprofit organization in Nashville, TN, whose mission supports youth who are interested in playing in their own rock band, among other art education support activities.
