Virginia Campbell Obituary

Virginia O'Brien Campbell

Virginia O'Brien Campbell, age 96 of Germantown, TN, died Friday, February 1, 2013.

She was a native of Rutherford County and was the daughter of the late James Murfree O'Brien, Sr. and Virginia McDonald O'Brien.

Mrs. Campbell was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Memphis and 1938 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. In 1939, she went to teach and coach Buchanan School, that year her girls' team won State Championship team. She went on to teach English and coach the boys and girls basketball team at Murfreesboro Central High School and also taught at Smyrna High School. Mrs. Campbell received her Masters Degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 1960.

Mrs. Campbell is survived by her daughters, Barbara Rickman and husband Mack of Germantown, Betty Tedrick and husband, Don of Canton, Georgia; brother, J. Murfree O'Brien of Murfreesboro; three grandchildren, Brian, Brad and Brandon Rickman; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Evergreen Cemetery. Reverend Jack Westlund will officiate. Visitation with the family will be 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday at Woodfin Funeral Chapel, Murfreesboro (615) 893-5151.

Dear Barbara, I am so sorry to learn of your mother's death. She lived a wonderful, long life. I am also sorry I no longer live in Murfreesboro and so I am not be able to give you my condolences in person. Please accept my sympathy and express it to your and Betty's families.
