George "Buddy" Probst

1941 - 2018

George (Buddy) Probst, 77, passed away at home in Tuttle, Oklahoma on Sunday, April 15, 2018.
In honor of his life, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 28, at 11:00 a.m. at the Legion Hall in Freedom, Oklahoma Lunch will be provided directly following the celebration of Buddy's life. To follow, for those who wish to join, family and friends plan to spread his ashes.
Buddy was born on April 7, 1941, to George and Wilma (French) Probst on their kitchen table in Kremlin, Oklahoma. He attended school there, and then he graduated from Carrier in 1959. He married his high school sweetheart, Virginia Adamson, and they had two children (daughter Brook Fischer -husband John, and son Breck Probst –wife Elizabeth) who survive him, and four grandchildren respectively; Ashley Leming, Austin Jones, and the twins Wyatt and Eli Probst.
Buddy was a veteran who served in the United States Army from 1959 – 1962 and he attended University College at NEO and WSU. Buddy was sort of a jack of all trades. He was a farmer and a business man who worked at Hormel, sold baby furniture, and even worked at Boeing.
Buddy fell in love again and married Kathleen Hellar. Together they ran the Sitka Social Club and The Old Weigh Station Café for over 20 years, creating a community where everyone shared great food and lifelong friendships. They had two children (son Buddy Probst –wife Linaka, and daughter Mandy Probst) who survive him, and four grandchildren respectively; Devan Smith, Blakelea & Bentley Probst, and Cass Bledsoe.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, George and Wilma, and his brother "Rocky" Roscoe Lee Probst. Survivors include sister Wildena Probst of Kansas, brother Roger (wife Kathy) Probst of Florida, brother Bill (wife Mary) Probst of Texas, and sister Helen (husband Tom) of Connecticut, and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Buddy was an amazing father, family man, mentor, and friend. Hard work, discipline, love, and generosity were his way of living life. He touched the hearts of many, and never knew a stranger. A beautiful man both inside and out, a true blessing who will be forever loved and missed.
