JANE DEPEW

DODGE CITY Jane Depew, 82, died Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Wesley Woodlawn Hospital, Wichita, Kansas.
She was born on June 26, 1943 at Churubusco, Indiana the daughter of George Robert and Helen Lenora (Marts) Tompkins. She went to work for Hyplains Dressed Beef in 1965 and retired 59 years later from National Beef, Dodge City.
Jane was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 60 years. Her favorite color was purple and she was known by both her family and friends to be one of Elvis Presley's biggest fans.
Jane was one of the founding members of the Humane Society, Dodge City. She had a love for animals especially her dogs, taking in any of them that needed a home.
She married William Albert "Bill" Depew on June 26, 1967 in Trinidad, Colorado. He preceded her in death on July 22, 1979.
Survivors include: three step children, Glenn Depew (Linda), Hutchinson, Debbie Hildebrand, South Hutchinson, Vicki Gale (Dave), St. Joseph, Missouri; 9 nieces and nephews, Terrence Tompkins (Ruth), Cheney, Alan Tompkins, Hydro, Oklahoma, Kenneth Tompkins (Tami), Ford, Tracy Weyers, Monroe, Iowa, Sandra Koehn (Lane), Lenexa, Tim Tompkins (Sharon), Brewster, Bill Downey, Pretty Prairie, Chad Tompkins (JoAnna), Abilene, Lance Tompkins (Michelle), Andover and one sister-in-law, Jeanne Denton, Gulf Stream, Florida. She is also survived by her last two fur babies, Marley and Poppy, plus numerous friends and acquaintances, which included two very special friends, Angela and Sandra.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Earl and George Tompkins, two nieces, Jacque Doody and Martha Tompkins, and one nephew, Ronald Tompkins.
Funeral Service will be Monday, November 10, 2025 at 10:00 am at the First Christian Church, Dodge City with Dusty Cookson officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City. Visitation will be Monday prior to the service at 9:00 am.
