ALICE COE Obituary

Alice Luverne Coe Alice Luverne Coe, age 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 24, 2013, at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was born in Bascom, FL, on October 24, 1934, to Freeman and Lilly McLendon. She moved to Houston County, AL at an early age and spent the remainder of her life there. Luverne retired from the Houston County School System where she served as Bookkeeper and Lunchroom Manger of Rehobeth School. She was preceded in death by husband and father of her children, Herbert H. Cobb; parents, Freeman and Lilly McLendon, brother, Millard McLendon, sister, Louise McLendon Chambers, and a special grandson, Matthew Blake Bogardus. She is survived by Lamar Coe, her husband of 37 years; children, Ricky (Sheila) Cobb, Paula (Don) Jackson, Mike (Sue Marie) Coe and Steve Coe; a sister, Martha Watford; grandchildren, Kristi (Jon) Bullock, Kerri Cobb, Tracy Culbreth, Stephanie Bailey, David Coe, Anna Coe, and Katie (Blake) Bogardus; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will visit at the home of her son, Ricky Cobb, 1808 Avalon Ln. Dothan, on Monday, May 27, 2013, from 1 to 4. Memorial contributions may be made to Greystone United Methodist Church, 4401 Fortner St. Dothan, Al 36303. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Ms. Luverne. We loved her very much. Our Mother, Mary Nell Kirkland, worked with Ms. Luverne at Rehobeth School for many years and treasured her friendship. With sincerest condolences Ricky and Paula. Aunt Luverne was such a blessing in my life. Growing up she always made me feel loved and welcomed in your home. Today she is in a better place. Prayers and thoughts go out to you and your families as you are lead by God through this time of remembrances and grief.
