Charles North Obituary

Charles Barton North

Charles Barton (Bart) North, originally from Ashford, died September 9, 2021. He was 51.

A visitation honoring Barton, his mother, Olivia Bruner North, and his aunt, Harriet Bruner Larson, will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Dothan, AL on July 30, 2022, from 10 AM until 12 PM.

Barton was a member of the Ashford Academy class of 1988. He graduated as Valedictorian of his senior class and was selected to play on the 1987 APSA All-Star football team as center. He supported his beloved school past his days on the gridiron and even returned to Layton Field as an assistant football coach during the tenure of Coach Mack Williams.

Barton graduated Summa Cum Laude in Accounting from Auburn University in 1992. Following his undergraduate studies, Barton attended Cumberland School of Law where he received his Juris Doctor in 1995. He completed his legal education at the University of Miami, earning a Master of Laws in Taxation in 1996. Though Barton attended other universities, he always bled orange and blue. College football Saturdays are not the same without a "War Eagle" from him.

Barton was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Osmond North and Olivia Bruner North. He is survived by his sister, Marsha North (Matt Escher), Birmingham, AL. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Ashford Rescue Squad (P.O. Box 368, Ashford, AL).
