Dustin Gilliam Obituary
Funeral services for Colt will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Christ Church International with the Rev. David Delvecchio officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Christ Church International.
Colt was born Feb. 21, 1985, in Dothan. He graduated from Dothan High School in 2003.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jerry Mathis Gilliam Sr., and great-grandmother, Earlene Purvis.
Colt leaves behind to cherish his memories his mother and stepfather, Jane and Charles Richard Sunday; father, Jerry Mathis Gilliam Jr.; fiancé, Brooke Thomas; brother, Jerry Mathis Gilliam III and his wife Shanda; stepbrother, Brandon Sunday; stepsister, Britney Brodmerkel and her husband Sean; grandparents, Harvey M. and Mello Jo Parrish and Jean Story Gilliam; great-grandmother, Mabel Story; stepgrandparents, the Rev. Charles Edwin Sunday and Mary Grace Sunday; nephews, Trenton Gilliam, Bradley Clements, and Kayden Brodmerkel.
Pallbearers will be Joey Watkins, Justin Smith, Ryan Johnson, Bryan Watkins, Brad Philpot, Kendall Graham and Jeff Smith.

Colt,2 Years ago today my Heart was ripped out of my chest, and only a section could be repair,and you can never live a normal life without a whole Heart, but what keep me going is knowing one day you are going to meet me at the Gates with open arms. Colt I see you every where and think you are going to walk through the door any minute.I talk about you all the time,I will never get over losing my Bestfreind/Son. I relive this day in my mind over and over every day wishing I would have done things different. I carrying You with me wherever I go. I can still hear you telling me don't worry Mom and I can still see your beautiful Smile. I can see you smiling now as I am writing oh how I miss it!!!!! Colt I will never forget this special day 24 years ago, I had a beautiful baby boy, whom I am so proud to be call my Son. I Love you and miss you sooooo much, it just seem like yesterday, time go by so fast, but my love for you remian the same, I will never forget My Colt, You were Special!!!! The bond between a Mother and a Son starts at conception and never END, I still hold You in my Heart, my Mind and my Soul, not a day goes by without You in. I look at You every day, I tell You how much I miss you, I sit on the couch and look at You in the Clouds watching over Trenton never saw You in this picture untill You were gone, I ask God to show me where you are, and God used the Mothers Day framed picture You and Tra gave me. You are in the Loving Arms of God watching over all of us and thats what keeps me going. It so hard to believe it has been a year today, it just seems like yesterday to me. It still seems like a bad dream and I am going to see you walk through the door anytime. Colt, I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to get to know you through Joey and the rest of the "crew". You always knew how to make people laugh. I have the best memories from the beach. ONE of a Kind. I know everyone really misses you. I talk to Joey and Summer quite a bit and I know they both think about you and miss you like crazy!! I think about you quite often and miss being able to see you just hanging around your boys. Summer and I rode out to your grave and just sat there for a little while. Merry Christmas!! I LOVE YOU! not a day goes by that i dont think about you and your family. a piece of my heart is gone without you!!!but i know one day i will get it back. i cant help but miss your laugh, your hugs, your cute little smile, your smell, your kisses, the way the back of your head felt, and the soft spot right next to your eye i always loved to kiss. i have memories of you every where i go! and whats funny is as time goes by i seem to remember more and more of them. all of the funny things you would say! and those crazy noises you would blurt out of nowhere!! i am laughing just sitting here thinking about it all. you always had your way of making me smile. and still do. ill never forget the way you acted when someone was getting on your nerves! i couldnt help but laugh at you when you were frustrated! and somehow i think me laughing made you feel better about it! ill never forget the crazy silly way you would act in the morning when you got out of the shower!! that is where those noises would start coming out! i know you remember me plucking your eyebrows! i couldnt help but laugh then too! i know you hated it but you always let me do it! me you and christa out at your trailer drinking twister and vodka! uh oh! you know that was fun! how about the night me you and brett stood in bretts driveway till the sun came up?! i dont think i have ever laughed so hard in my life listening to brett ramble on about..well...you know! what was he talking about anyway?? oh! me you and christa driving home from atlanta in the middle of the night with that bird!! i know like three hours before that we all hated each other, but that bird had us laughing so hard we all forgot about the argument! and we sure did find our way home! i remember our first night in sweet water, you woke up in the closet and christa was asleep in the bathroom!! how in the world did that happen?? maybe the twister? only we will know!! me you and your mom laughing at shorty up at the store! you skateboarding in the back of sunday pools with a newport in your hand! i always loved the way you smoke your newports. ill never forget all the times me and you would just ride out listening to music! our late night trips to walmart! you bathing asia and kilo! there is so much more!! but alot of it might embarrass us both! i feel so blessed to have had u in my life!! you were a part of my life for a long time! and even through all of our hard times i still love you! and i know i always will! your smile lives forever in my heart! i cant wait to see you again!! Seems like just yesterday we were all kids, playin around. I remember when u an tra would love to get that mask out and scare me. i miss all the good times, but now i cherish them more than ever. I always looked up to you and Brett, even tho i was always bigger than yall, i was the younger one, and yall liked to pick on me at times. I regret losing touch with my cousins as we got older, but the one comfort i had was knowing that if i ever got into some kind of trouble all i had to do was pick up the phone and call you or brett.
