Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at Church of God by Faith (221 S. Ussery St.) where Elder Noah Smith is pastor and the Rev. W.C. Snell will be officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 4 to 6 p.m. and wake services will also be held tonight from 6 to 7:15 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ethel McGhee Holt was the third born to the union of T.A. and Flora McGhee on Jan. 4, 1944, in Pike County. She attended Spann High School in Houston County. She joined Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church at an early age. She later joined Alabama Avenue Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until her illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John Lee McGhee and Edward Brady; one brother-in-law, Glaucus Jefferson.
She leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband, the Rev. David Holt, Dothan; stepchildren, Kenneth Wayne (Lisa) Holt, Montgomery, Lacynthia Holt, Atlanta, Cheryl Denise Holt, Montgomery, Vada (Lisa) Holt, Montgomery; seven grandchildren; nine sisters, Nelia Brunson, Dothan, Jesse (Ordangie) Owen, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Florine (Eugene) McBride, Willie (Edward) Jefferson, Rose Sherpard, Dorothy Jefferson, JoAnn Hayes, Stephanie (Anthony) Johnson, Sarah (Louis) Beverly, all of Houston; four brothers-in-law, Willie (Gwen) Holt, Las Vegas, Willie James Holt, Artis (Alfreta Holt), all of Dothan, Edward (Jurilyn) Holt, Montgomery; three sisters-in-law, Luretha Holt, Pearlene Thompson and Mary (James) Moss, all of Dothan; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; two very special friends, Catherine Corchran and Loretta Armstrong.
